Time to spring clean your wardrobe? CarrieMe loves H&M's eco-conscious initiative

Is your wardrobe bursting at the seams? Feeling like a fresh start - well in March 2013 you can head to H&M with your bags of unwanted clothes (from any brand) and H&M will recycle them and exchange each bag for a H&M voucher!

Its fantastic that this high street retailer is promoting and rewarding recycling with the aim of preventing unwanted clothing from clogging up landfill sites.

What's more, full of new initiatives, H&M are launching the new Conscious Collection as part of their ethical range, an "ongoing commitment to a more sustainable fashion future" made from sustainable materials such as organic cotton, Tencel and recycled polyester.  H&M have a variety of items in the collections from everyday pieces to fresh summery dresses to reach out to a variety of women, as well as a men's and children's range. Here at CarrieMe I'm loving this dress due to land in-store in mid-March:

Plus by having Vanessa Paradis as the face of the collection, they've really topped the style stakes. A recognised model and total beauty, she said, "I like being part of something like the Conscious collection, I try my best to shop consciously.  Vintage is very much part of my wardrobe.  I love the style and the way it works in an eco-friendly way because I like to use and reuse old clothes".
Vanessa Paradis
Oohhh better get cracking on that wardrobe - aiming to buy this fab maxi dress with H&M eco vouchers, now that would be a double whammy: wallet friendly and eco.

What about you - what would you exchange?

CarrieMe has some fishy fun!

The London Sea Life Aquarium's Deep Clean has inspired CarrieMe to visit the underwater world of beauty...

Every January the main attraction gets a good scrub down... as do the animals!

Rex Features
Its been a good few years since any of the CarrieMe team have been to the aquarium but all have fond memories and think its due another visit and soon so we thought we would share are plans with you London visitors!

Shark Reef Encounter is one of the new attractions and we are SO there! The London Sea Life Aquarium have described the new experience as a "celebration of one of nature’s most magnificent but misunderstood creatures, guests start their journey with a walk on the wild side across the new, extended Shark walk".

Being able to see sixteen sharks on a glass walkway may not be a typical afternoon but January is all about doing new things be it with friends or family. Fun for all!

With feeding times for rays, catfish, terrapins, sharks and coral reef we will be pulling straws on which one to book in for! London is perfect for doing fun things like this and we are so lucky to leave here!

CarrieMe loves some of the fierce fashion at the Golden Globes...

Those of you having withdrawal symptoms from the Golden Globes don't worry.. here at CarrieMe we are still  talking about the hot fashion that we saw walk the red carpet..and we have a few favorites that we wanted to share with you!

First up was Anne Hathaway who didn't just blow audiences away with her Les Miserables performance, but also wowed  us in the incredible white beaded Chanel couture gown.

Stunning in a crimson red with a daring thigh high split, Miranda Kerr let the Zuhair Murad gown speak for itself, effortlessly gorgeous and simply beautiful with minimal accessories - this was a winner of the night for us.

Definitely fitting for the evening and perhaps a little OTT in gold brocade was Emily Blunt in a Michael Kors dress! She was polished to perfection, with a Ferragamo clutch and Lorraine Schwartz jewels.

We can't give too much away yet but will let you blogging readers into a few secrets...

Yesterday was the preliminary photo shoot for the CarrieMe Camellia Collection, in the heart of Notting Hill, it was very warming to be back in CarrieMe's birthplace.

As this collection is inspired by nature, so we thought we'd have some fun trying different locations including some quirky arty shots entwining the CarrieMe's with some rose climbers, as well as some modelled by Carrie, the founder.

We'll keep you posted and may even ask you to the launch!

CarrieMe is all for well dressed men.... especially those showing today in the London Collections: Men!

London Collections: Men - Autumn/Winter 2013 showcase starts today

The beginning of January 2013 is a slow one for many but not for the British fashion scene as the British Fashion Council host a three day stint of fashion bonanza all centred around Men. The scheduled presentations were opened earlier today from Belstaff, Lou Dalton and John Smedley.  Later to be followed by Topman Design, Richard Nicoll and Hackett London.

Dylan Jones, Chair of London Collections: Men said, "London is the home of menswear, so it is only natural that is has its own dedicated fashion week.  London invented tailoring in Savile Row, it invented youth culture, and it continues to produce the best young designers in the world.  Why would a menswear designer chose to show anywhere else?".  We're with Mr Jones on this one, lets celebrate men's fashion in its home town!

London Collections: Men

Liam Gallegher, Pretty Green
Over 60 menswear designers will show on schedule until 9th January including Liam Galleger's Pretty Green brand via cinematic presentation at the acclaimed Mayfair's The Arts Club this evening. We wonder if there will be an Oasis soundtrack accompanying the presentation..

David Gandy
With male fashion rightly dominating January we are able to see the best dressed of the fabulously dressed! A few days of male glamour with events held that we dream of going to including David Gandy's intimate reception to highlight Red Nose Day and the fashion world's collaborative plans is just what January needs.

CarrieMe are looking forward to seeing all the shows in pictured beauty, especially the 30 ready-to-wear and accessories designers that will exhibit their AW13 collection at the Hospital Club, the main hub for LC:M.  Who knows some of the accessories may include some man bags that need a CarrieMe to hold it up and keep it clean where ever it is taken...looking good in black or silver....

CarrieMe meets Michaela Jedinak, author of styling ebook and website Joy of Clothes

If there's one New Year's resolution I should add for 2013 its how to dress more stylishly without breaking the bank or taking up too much of my ever more precious time .. as luck would have it I met the bubbly Michaela Jedinak- who's written this wonderful ebook and styling website: Joy of Clothes - just in time to take advantage of the Sales!

1)      What was the inspiration for Joy Of Clothes?

I was living for a couple of years in Milan - I always had a deep love affair  for all things Italian and during my time there I became obsessed with how Italian women are effortlessly and elegantly dressed and that their style and dressing right had nothing to do with wearing big labels. I recognised that with an increasingly overwhelming choice of clothes, designers and stores finding the clothes that suit you can be more stressful than joyful. I believe every woman is different and her own personal style DNA and therefore needs individual, personalised advice how to create visual balance.

2)      What are the faux pas that most of us women commit?

We just can’t wear what we want in order to look our best. Dressing right is all about creating visual balance in your look. When it comes to looking good, it’s not your size or shape that matters, it’s the fit of your clothes. But fit doesn’t equal suitability.  So, wearing the right clothes shouldn’t be about following the latest fashion trends; it should be about choosing what actually suits you. As I said before we are all different in our build, colouring, personalities and life style.  Dressing in what really suits you will make you feel confident about your look, because you are comfortable in what you are wearing and focus on enjoying yourself, rather fretting if the outfit looks good on you.  You can find plenty of style tips in my e-book: Style Me, your personal stylist.

3)      How does Joy of Clothes change that?

I have always been passionate about giving women the relevant advice and the tools to dress themselves in the best way. Now, with the help of my website www.joyofclothes.com and interactive tools, I can bring my skills and experience to a broader audience, and empower women everywhere with the expert know-how they require to dress with complete confidence for every occasion.

One of our interactive tools is STYLE ME an exclusive fashion software that enables you to build your own avatar based on your body shape and colouring, you can then "virtually try on" thousands of recommended styles and colours before clicking to buy similar styles online.

The other one is our new online fashion STYLE QUIZ which asks women sixteen questions about their style personality, preferences, celebrities and body features. Joy of Clothes then prepares a personal style file including advice on what to wear for their body shape, which colours looks best on them, which celebrities share their body shape and personal colouring, and finally personal stylist picks from top retailers including Net-a-Porter, L.K.Bennett, Top Shop and ASOS. These stylist picks are updated every week so women never need to shop alone. These rules apply to everyone no matter what age, life style, work or play or budget.

4)      Which CarrieMe products would you pick as a stylist?

I am juggling a lot of things, so being organised as much as I can helps me to get things done. So, therefore my top 3 are:

1. CarrieMe Classic Finder in Tropical Turquoise
I don't like to carry 2 bags with me, because I am constantly living in the fear of leaving one behind. Therefore I always I wear a big carrier shoulder bag - the drawback is that I never can find my phone or keys in my bag.  So this CarrieMe Finder is a life saver for me, because everything is at its place. I chose turquoise, because it reminds me of warm getaway holidays and that gives me always a little lift.

2.  CarrieMe Classic Bag Hook in Cranberry Red
I love my shoulder bags and they are very important to me, because they carry everything what I need to do my work.  So, I really don't like to put them on the floor where they can get damaged, dirty and where I run the risk of loosing things as well being mugged.  The CarrieMe Bag Hook avoids all of these things. It keeps my bag save, clean and clearly in my view.  I picked the colour red for red alert so that I am not running the risk leaving with out my bag.

3. CarrieMore Clip
Another genius idea. I can't even count how many gloves and umbrella I lost and left behind. No more - this clip keeps gloves and umbrella at its place.
