Tactile Textures for Autumn 2011

At CarrieMe, we have a beautiful array of colours to choose from, but we are always careful not to overlook different materials. This season in particular, with the launch of our super soft snowball bag charm, we have been focusing on texture.

Texture is a key part of the emerging A/W trends. Elle magazine picked up on designers apparent obsession with clashing fabrics this coming season:” The autumn/winter collections mean one thing: deliciously tactile collections.”

Giles Deacon’s most recent collection stands out as one of the most texturally adventurous on the catwalk; with leather, feathers, velvet and fur all put together on a palette of mostly black and white. Giorgio Armani’s spy themed autumn/winter collection is all black but to make up for the lack of colour he went wild with the materials. His trousers came in every material from silk, leather, velvet and fine wool.

Japanese designers Issey Miyake and Yohji Yamamoto are recognised for their relationship with textiles, working closely with textile designers to develop new fabrics. For example Miyake’s innovative collection Pleats Please, which saw the emergence of a new light weight, easy to wear fabric.
